چکیده

This study focuses on network configurations to accommodate automated vehicles (AVs) road networks during the transition period full automation. The literature suggests that dedicated infrastructure for AVs and enhanced mixed traffic (i.e., same lanes with conventional vehicles) are main alternatives so far. We utilize both propose a unified mathematical framework optimizing by simultaneous deployment of AV-ready subnetworks traffic, AV links, lanes. model problem as bilevel design where upper level represents adjustment decisions deploy these concepts lower includes equilibrium representing flows result travelers’ response new topologies. Potentials and Implications of Dedicated Highway Lanes for Autonomous Vehicles

The introduction of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) will have far-reaching effects on road traffic in cities and on highways. The implementation of Automated Highway Systems (AHS), possibly with a dedicated lane only for AVs, is believed to be a requirement to maximise the benefit from the advantages of AVs. We study the ramifications of an increasing percentage of AVs on the traffic system with and w...

Traffic Grooming for Survivable WDM Networks – Dedicated Protection

This paper investigates the survivable traffic-grooming problem for optical mesh networks employing wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) and dedicated protection. We consider the dynamic-provisioning environment where a connection arrives at random, holds for a random amount of time, and then departs. A typical connection request may require bandwidth less than that of a wavelength, and it ma...

Optimizing Signalized Intersections Performance under Conventional and Automated Vehicles Traffic

Automated vehicles, or AVs (i.e. those that have the ability to operate without a driver and can communicate with the infrastructure) may transform the transportation system. This study develops and simulates an algorithm that can optimize signal control simultaneously with the AV trajectories under undersaturated traffic flow of AV and conventional vehicles. This proposed Intelligent Intersect...

Towards Cooperative Motion Planning for Automated Vehicles in Mixed Traffic

While motion planning techniques for automated vehicles in a reactive and anticipatory manner are already widely presented, approaches to cooperative motion planning are still remaining. In this paper, we present an approach to enhance common motion planning algorithms, that allows for cooperation with human-driven vehicles. Unlike previous approaches, we integrate the prediction of other traff...

Traffic controlled-Dedicated Short Range Communication: a Secure Communication using Traffic controlled Dedicated Short Range Communication Model in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks for Safety Related Services

To increase the road safety and secure communication among the vehicles in the network environment, Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) is followed. Nowadays, research over DSRC is dramatically increased for enhancing the road safety applications. The main task of DSRC is to protect the vehicles by communicating the warning message regarding the vehicle changing conditions, traffic occur...
